The Lismore City Concert Band was formed over thirty years ago (1979) when it was led through the first 18 years by John Allen, a past music lecturer at Northern Rivers College and Southern Cross University. The current group is expertly headed by Musical Director, Ben van Kleef.Our musicians play in a relaxed environment with a focus on team effort, building confidence, enjoying the concert band experience and creating good music. The atmosphere at weekly practices is friendly and inviting.The members are a diverse group of individuals encompassing a wide range of ages and musical talents. Brass, woodwind and percussion instruments are played.An eclectic selection of music is performed by the band, from classical pieces to contemporary and popular arrangements, marches, polkas, pop songs, TV and movie themes, Australian pieces and traditional oom-pah tunes.Having a cooperative relationship with the Northern Rivers Conservatorium. We are grateful for access to the Conservatorium’s concert room for practice and  use of storage facilities.
